Replanting Your Edible Garden
Replanting is an essential part of every edible garden, ensuring that the space continues to grow, produce, and support student learning year after year. We are currently developing replanting package options so schools can choose what works best for them. Schools will be able to either receive seeds and guidance to replant on their own, or invite We Grow Food to return for an additional day of education and planting support. These replanting package details will be shared with all participating schools prior to the replanting season — so stay tuned!

Strawberry Patch

Everbearing strawberries can grow into October, making it a great crop for students to enjoy.
4ft x 8ft x 12in. strawberry patch includes:

Orchard or Food Forest

The perfect part to a sustainable food system.
Fruit trees produce better when they are planted in pairs. An apple tree needs another apple tree, not the same type of apple, to pollinate. Therefore, your orchard should start with a minimum of two trees.
Blueberries and currants grow to the south, below the fruit trees. To start, we recommend at least two blueberry bushes and two currant bushes.

Now that your school has had the chance to experience successfully growing food, it may be time to add another bed or more.

Seedling Starters
More Information
Learning how to make wicking or self-watering pots, students will plant tomato, basil, and pepper plants at the beginning of April. Then, when it is time to plant the school edible garden, some of these plants will be planted in the garden and the rest students may take home. South facing windows will be the best for growing seedlings.
